Because carving your initials into a mountain isn't ever enough

There was a huge uproar a couple of years ago when not-a-Dr. Jerry Falwell carved a big ugly LU into his mountain.


That LU got the best of Jerry. He died of cardiac arrest the day after hiking his fat ass up to the observation gazebo atop the LU (that little white speck above the L).

Just look at what the Falwells are up to now.


It's a ski slope.

I caught myself grumbling about LU's ski slope the other day. "They must be so desperate for students!" I thought, quite smugly.


Then I remembered that my alma mater had a ski slope too.

People who annoy me

I still have nothing blob-worthy to write about. So instead I'll start a new series, People Who Annoy Me, and get something off my chest.

Nancy Pelosi really annoys me. For all the wooing Obama is doing with Republicans, I think his time would be better spent (and our tax dollars as well) if he'd use it to knock Pelosi down a peg or two (or ten).

The GOP can do whatever they want. They are out of power (deservedly so) and their bark has no bite. But Pelosi has the power, and she mishandles it.

If Obama wants to get Washington beyond partisanship, then he needs to start with his own party.

WTF were democrats thinking when they elevated Pelosi to Speaker? Is she really the best they could do?
